Our editorial library

This is the editorial library of Italiana Filati Pregiati — a two-generation Italian family business sourcing premium yarn from the Biella textile district and other historic Italian mills for over 50 years. We publish guides that help knitters, weavers, fashion designers, knitwear manufacturers, and small ateliers understand what they are buying, how to compare options, and how to use stock-priced Italian yarn without sacrificing quality.

Articles fall into a handful of consistent themes. Yarn guides walk through fiber types — cashmere, merino, alpaca, mohair, silk, cotton, linen, blends — explaining where each fiber comes from, what gives an Italian spin its reputation, and which weights and twists fit which project. Comparison guides sit side-by-side specific spinners (Loro Piana, Zegna Baruffa, Cariaggi, Biagioli Modesto, Lana Gatto, and others) and specific articles, with notes on hand, drape, durability, and best-fit end use.

Every article is written either by our team — who handle thousands of cones across all major Italian spinners every season — or in collaboration with knitwear professionals from our customer network.
