Fine Italian Yarns at Deadstock Prices
IFP Filati Pregiati SRL is a wholesale warehouse of fine Italian yarn, specialising in mill production surplus and deadstock from the Biella textile district. We are IFP Filati Pregiati SRL, a family business founded in the 1970s in Emilia Romagna, Italy, specializing in the wholesale trade of fine yarn. Over the decades, two generations of our family have earned the trust of our clients by guaranteeing high-quality, carefully selected products. In 2018, we relocated to Romania and our warehouse in Neamț county offers a wide range of products in cashmere, silk, mohair, merino wool, linen, cotton and more — in pure and mixed compositions, in a rich variety of colors and thicknesses.

Being a wholesale yarn warehouse, our customers are generally artisans, knitwear manufacturers and knitting studios looking for a reliable yarn wholesaler. We also welcome machine knitters, weavers, individual hand knitters and small studios — at regular prices there is no minimum, from a single cone; the €500 minimum applies only to orders at stock (discounted) prices.
How We Work: Original Loro Piana, Zegna & Cariaggi Yarn
We collaborate with the most important producers in Italy: Loro Piana, Zegna, Cariaggi, Biagioli, Lana Gatto, Millefili and others. We purchase surplus stock lots of these mills' production through Italian stock and destock channels — from the same lines that supply leading fashion houses. The yarns are identical quality to retail; the savings come from our sourcing model.
What You Get: Mill End Yarn Cones with Full Specs
Premium Italian yarn on cones at about half the store price, sold by weight rather than in 50 g balls. Yarn cones are available in cashmere, merino, alpaca, silk, mohair, linen and cotton, ready for machine knitting, weaving or hand work, in lots ranging from a single cone to a full batch. Every cone is rigorously controlled, inventoried and conditioned with care based on quality, composition and count.

Deadstock yarn is mill production surplus — original first-quality yarn the mill spun and never shipped, sold below list because the warehouse needs the space. Buyers searching for deadstock or liquidated textile lots often find incomplete batches with no traceability. We work differently: we acquire production surplus and mill ends through Italian stock and destock channels, so every cone is original first-choice yarn with a declared composition and count. That is why our deadstock yarn costs up to 50% less while remaining identical to what sells at list price.

What is deadstock yarn?
Deadstock yarn is mill production surplus: batches spun for a client and never used, or overruns from regular lots. It is not seconds and not defective yarn — it is original first-quality yarn sold at a reduced price because the warehouse has to be cleared. We source it through Italian stock and destock channels and resell it on cones at up to 50% below list price.
Is deadstock yarn lower quality?
No. It comes from the same production run as yarn sold at list price, with the same composition and the same count. The difference is purely commercial: these are surplus batches or stock left in the warehouse. Every lot is checked, weighed and carefully prepared before shipping.
What is the minimum order?
The €500 minimum applies only to orders at stock (discounted) prices. At regular prices there is no minimum — you can order from a single cone. Either way there is no per-item minimum, so you can mix several yarns in one order.
Which mills does your yarn come from?
We handle original yarn produced by leading Italian mills — including Loro Piana, Zegna Baruffa, Cariaggi and Biagioli Modesto — largely from the Biella textile district. We are not official distributors for these brands: we source the yarn through Italian stock and destock channels, and every lot keeps its declared composition and count.
How much does cashmere yarn cost?
We do not publish a price list: the price depends on the article, the batch and the quantity. We work at stock prices, typically around 50% below list and often more. Tell us which compositions interest you and the approximate quantities and we will prepare a quote.
Which is the finest wool?
Among the noble fibres vicuña is the rarest and most expensive, followed by cashmere; for sheep wool, extrafine merino is the benchmark for fineness and softness. The right choice depends on use: cashmere gives the most warmth for its weight, merino more elasticity and better pilling resistance.
How do you wash cashmere?
By hand, in cold water (max 30 °C) with a mild detergent or a neutral shampoo, without rubbing or wringing. Rinse, press the water out in a towel and dry flat, away from direct heat. Machine washing only on a wool programme with minimum spin.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship across Europe with tracked couriers and, on request, outside the EU with full customs documentation. Cost depends on weight and destination, with no hidden fees. Indicative times: 1–3 business days within Romania, roughly 5–10 business days elsewhere in the EU.
